Currently the highest parsing ranged dps spec for rogues (until Trion come down with the almighty nerf hammer and smash it into the ground) its also a lot higher than some of the melee specs. The best thing about this spec is that whilst it does an insane amout of ST damage, it can also do a 3 target cleave without sacrificing any dps!

The Spec: 61 Ranger 11 Saboteur 4 Shadeborn (Abyss Weapon) or 4 in assassin if you dont have SB (4 points into Murderous Intent)
Masteries:

61 - Aggressive Defence - Used for the increase damage

that Shadow Fire gives (10% increase) as well as the 35%

increase to Shadow Fire when it procs.

62 - Revitalize - Nothing else worth having in this row, so

the increase in healing taken is always nice.

63 - Juke and Run - Movement speed buff and a

reduction of Hasten Call - Not really important in PvE

but in PvP your pet is going to die a lot (from Diffuse

and people focusing your pet aswell)

64 - Repetitive Strikes - Nothing comes close in this tier,

so Repetitive Strikes is the way to go to maximise DPS.

65 - Energy Manipulation - The great thing about this

spec is that it doesnt get energy starved, so you don't

need to worry about using the cost reduction whilst

parsing on a dummy!

Buffs:

Feral Instincts
Ravenous Instincts

Virulent Poison (if assassin)

Spirit of the Wilderness

---

The pet you want to use is the Blood Raptor, the reason for this is because the Raptor does more dps than the Griffon and it gets a damaging buff from Ace Shot (and Trick Shot, its the same buff and it doesn't stack) which increases your damage by 5%, but the Griffon only gets a 30% damage reduction from AoE's.

Abilities:

Time Bomb - This ability is not to be macro'd - The reason for this is because for every 2 seconds that Time Bomb is off cooldown the damage of time bomb increases, maxing out at a 125% damage increase of time bomb. This will take 10 seconds to max out, Time Bomb is a 20 second cooldown which means it will match up perfectly with your personal cooldowns of Animalism and Feral Aggression (not important for Feral Aggression as its only a pet dps increase, but you will use both at the same time anyway)

Shadow Fire - I recommend not macro'ing this ability, only because it can proc when you're at 4 combo points and waste a combo point, which inevitably will be a dps loss overall. You will use this ability off cd (assuming it wont waste a combo point) and also use it when it procs - Your damaging abilities have a 40% chance to proc Shadow Fire to increase its damage by 35% if used within 6 seconds.

Head Shot - Applies a 5% damage increase to your pet for 12 seconds per combo point (maxing out at 1 minute) to be used at 5 combo points. You will use this every minute to maintain Bestial Fury (the name of the pet damage increase buff)

Twin Shot - This is the finisher you're going to be using whenever Bestial Fury is up, it is your highest damaging finisher.

Splinter Shot - To be maintained 100% of the time, unless it means you waste a combo point, then re-apply it as soon as possible. Will carry the buff of Animalism after it expires, so clip it at the last second if there is <5 seconds left on splinter shot.

Strangulate (if you have shadeborn) - DoT that lasts 21 seconds dealing damage every 3 seconds, to be used every time it drops off. This is also important to use so you can use a gcd allowing charges to be re-built.

Fragmentation Sticky Bomb - Standard Builder you're going to be using, for every Frag bomb you apply you will need to proc with Detonate, don't keep re-applying Frag Bomb without detonating the previous one unless you want to severely reduce your dps.

Detonate - The ability used to detonate your sticky bombs (in this case, only frag bomb as thats the only sticky bomb you get this low in the tree). Initially, Detonate does no damage but the soul tree point Volitility allows Detonate to deal damage equal to 100% of your AP. Thus making it one of your top 5 ST damaging abilities.

Quick Shot - Your other builder that can be used if you run out of charges meaning you can't use Fragmentation Bomb. Usually you wont ever need to use Quick Shot, if you do the rotation correctly.

Ace Shot - Applies a DoT to the target and causes the enemy to take 8% more damage from the rogue and 40% damage from your pet.
If you need to you can refresh this a few seconds before the dot runs out, in certain circumstances. The reason for this is that you will need to have the buff of Ace Shot running when you go into your personal cooldown block, because you dont want to have to re-apply ace shot during that block, as its a dps loss. If you think its going to run out during the block, re-apply it. Its better to be safe when dealing with Ace Shot.

Also applies a seperate buff to the rogue depending on what pet you have up at that time.

What buffs do the pets grant?

The wolf will give you a 15% movement speed buff when ace shot is used. The buff lasts 15 seconds.

The Boar (aka the tank pet) will provide the rogue with a 15% damage reduction when ace shot is used. The buff lasts 15 seconds.

The Griffon will provide the rogue with a 30% reduction on AoE damage taken when ace shot is used. The buff lasts 15 seconds.

The Raptor will provide the rogue with a 5% increase in damage done, whilst also being the highest damaging pet you have, which is why the raptor is the most effective pet to use.

Piercing Shot - Piercing Shot is a personal dps loss to use, however the amour debuff the ability gives to the target, is an over-all raid dps increase so its still a good idea to use if noone else is doing the debuff. Don't macro this as it could possibly cast during your block, which is a dps loss (the debuff also lasts longer than the cooldown of the ability, so you only want to use it when the debuff is about to run out)

Macro's

cooldown macro:

#show animalism
suppressmacrofailures
cast feral aggression
cast animalism
/cast twin shot

These cd's need to be used in sync, all the time - So the best way to do this is to macro them together (as they also improve eachother).

With Twin Shot in the macro, you can put it in there if you wanted to, but you want to use your personal cooldowns as soon as they come off cd, so they re-align with other raid cooldowns like Lava Field, Enrage etc and if you have Twin Shot in the macro you either risk delaying using your cooldowns, or using twin shot at less than 5 combo points. But its down to personal preference.

builder macro:

#show shadow fire
suppressmacrofailures
petfollow
cast @self Energy Manipulation
cast Detonate
cast Shadow Fire
cast Fragmentation Sticky Bomb
cast Quick Shot
petattack

Rotation:

Start at 5 combo points and pre-apply Energy Manipulation

Starting rotation:

Head Shot - Piercing Shot - Splinter Shot - Shadow Fire - Strangulate - Ace Shot

Ace Shot is the last dot applied during the initial rotation because it lasts 15 seconds and you want ace shot to be up for the entire cooldown block, which means re-applying Ace Shot before every cooldown block, so you dont risk losing dps, even if that means clipping it by x amount of seconds.

Cooldown rotation:

Personal Cooldowns  - Twin Shot - Time Bomb - Twin Shot - Builder Macro - Splinter Shot - Builder Macro to 5 combo points - Twin Shot - From here continue to use your builder macro/twin shot and using Shadow Fire off cd/when it procs, at the last few seconds of your personal cooldowns re-apply splinter shot so it carries the proc of Animalism.

Standard Rotation:

Other than that, its just using your builder macro and twin shot, keeping up your dots - Ace Shot - Splinter Shot - Strangulate and the debuff of Piercing Shot and Bestial Fury from headshot.
